Jo & Joseph | Rainbows of Hope Project

Our first volunteer for the project was Jo and her little miracle, Joseph. She kindly braved the cold weather, while we took her photos, and we even got lucky enough to find some snowdrops, and friendly ducks to keep us company, but not before Jo sat down to share her story.

I am sure that many of you can relate to her story, and maybe even have some similar ones to share.

But I shall leave the story to Jo, please watch the full video to hear her full story, and see some of the images.

“We found out we were pregnant again when my eldest was 18 months [….] we were so happy because it had taken us so long to get pregnant with Jasmine.

“I was sick until 10 weeks, and I thought I had been lucky, then I started spotting, and I knew something was wrong. We went for our 12-week scan and they told me the baby had stopped growing at 5 weeks [….]

“They started the procedure to ‘remove products’. That is such a horrible term.”

“They did the procedure, and I kept bleeding [….] I did another pregnancy test and it kept showing positive, so I had another procedure. But I kept bleeding. They gave me a tablet to stop the bleeding, but it didn’t. When they took me off it, I started haemorrhaging.

“I was worried I was going to die.”

“I was in a lot of pain, and went back into hospital where they told me I had to have a third procedure.

“I came home and cuddled Jasmine a lot and felt sorry for myself, but a short while later we fell pregnant with Joseph, and he came 9 months later. I was so worried throughout the pregnancy because I thought something would go wrong.

But there is always hope.”
